Spanish potters in Sevilla developed a style known as montería
which typically showed a hunting scene. This in turn is derived
from the Italian istoriato style that highlighted historic, allegoric
or genre figures. These two influences converge in this Mexican platter
whose form is borrowed from French silver prototypes and whose palette
is influenced by Chinese porcelains.
