A Buddhist monk receives cassia seeds on a moonlit night (Bonso tsukiyo ni keishi o uku)

June 1891

This monk is one of the original Indian disciples of the Buddha.  He is collecting the magical seeds that fall from the cassia trees on the moon.  Because of their quality of perpetual renewal, cassia trees produce seeds that bestow immortality, as well as the power to become invisible at will.
