Horin temple moon

(Horinji no tsuki)

December 1890
The weeping woman is Yokobue, a lady-in-waiting to the Empress Kenreimonin (1155-1213).  When her lover Tokiyori took religious orders, she followed him to Horin temple in Saga near Kyoto and asked him to return with her, but he refused.
